Accompanist, Henry Macey
Henry was Born in Windsor and educated at Windsor Grammar School, before going on to study at Trinity College of Music, London University and later Reading University and in Austria. After teaching posts in Surrey, he became Director of Music at Langley Grammar, Slough in 1974 and, from 1987, combined his duties with those of Senior Master and Systems Manager. He retired in 2001. He was organist at Sunningdale Parish Church until 1987, where as co-founder of the Sunningdale Music Society he arranged and conducted many successful seasons of concerts.
Henry was conductor of Egham Choral Society from 1968 to 1981 when the society had some of its most successful concerts including several premiers and visits to Germany. From 1987 to 1998 he was organist at All Saints’, Boyne Hill, Maidenhead and from 1999 to 2006 he was organist at Sunninghill Parish Church near Ascot. He was re-appointed conductor of the Egham Choral Society from 2003-2005. He has also conducted many orchestral concerts including a complete cycle of Beethoven Piano Concertos.
Henry is principal organist with The St John Singers who sing frequently at many of England’s great cathedrals when their own choirs are on holiday or on tour. In January 2006, Henry and Melanie moved to North Walsham where Henry is now organist at Aylsham Parish Church, accompanist for the North Norfolk Chorale and continues with freelance work as conductor, repetiteur, accompanist and organ recitalist. He is currently President of the Norfolk Organists’ Association.
